basilisk王蜥

蜥蜴亚目鬣鳞蜥科王蜥属动物的统称。凡4种。栖居美洲热带地区。体长约60厘米，尾巴呈鞭状；头后端延伸呈一扁平叶状，形如鸡冠；后腿长，脚趾外鳞片形成缘缨，能在水面奔跑。因同古希腊、罗马神话中一种叫“小王”的怪物相象而得名。
