【典型错误】：

※The fruit trees are all in bloom．

※They are in youthful blooms．

【说明】：

1．一般说来，bloom与blossom不同，bloom指花树的花，blossom指果树的花。

例如：

The roses are in bloom．玫瑰花开了。

The tulips are in full bloom．郁金香盛开了。

The fruit trees are all in blossom．果树都开花了。

The apple trees are in blos3om．苹果树上正在开花。

Peach-trees are in full blossom．桃花开得正旺。

不可说：※The fruit trees are all in bloom．

不过，这并非绝对。

有时，用bloom或blossom均可。例如：

The cherry trees are in full bloom．樱花盛开。

There is no blossom this year on the cherry trees．今年樱桃树未开花。

〖注〗对于小的果树(如杨梅)，通常用flower和in flower。

2．bloom作“青春”、“正盛时期”解，是一种比喻用法，通常只用单数形式。例如：

She is in the lovely bloom of health．她长得健美动人。

They are in youthful bloom．他们正值青春年盛时期。
