形态与组分 线形，750～825×12～15纳米(MDMV)。粒子沉降系数170S，148S(MDMV)。

生物学特性 系统感染甘蔗(Saccharum officinarum)、玉米(Zea mays)，御谷(Pennisetum glaucum)、须芒草(Andropogon sorghum)、绒毛草(Holcus sorghum)、稗(Echinochloa crusgalli)、芒(Miscanthus sinensis)、白茅(Imperata eylindrica)、黍(Setaria italica)等均引起花叶症状。桃蚜(Myzus persicae)、玉米缢管蚜(Rhopalosiphum maidis)、燕麦长管蚜(Macrosiphum avenae)和马铃薯长管蚜(M．euphorbiae)作非持续性传播，汁液也能传播，玉米矮花叶株系(Maize dwarf mosaic strain)可种子传播。致死温度50～60℃、50～55℃(MDMV)，稀释终点10^－4、10^－’(MDMV)，体外保毒期1天，1～2天(MDMV)。分许多毒株，如Maize dwarf mosaic virus，Abaca mosaic virus，Sorghum red stripe virus，Sugarcane mosaic virus的A、B、C、D、E、F、H、I分离株，European maize mosaic virus等。病毒散生于寄主细胞质中，能形成风轮状内含体，在核内有结晶状内含体。
