镂尘吹影

意指白费功夫。原指镂刻灰尘、吹动影子。语出《关尹子》。

镂尘吹影吹影镂尘lòu chén chuī yǐng

镂尘吹影lou chen chui ying

carve the dust and blow the shadow—make futile exertion

镂尘吹影lòu chén chuī yǐnɡ

比喻徒劳无功。

镂尘吹影lòu chén chuī yǐng

镂：雕刻。《关尹子·一宇》：“言之如吹影，思之如镂尘。”即在尘土微粒上雕刻，用嘴吹影子。比喻徒劳无益，根本办不成的事情。
