atmosphere大气

包围地球的空气层，亦称大气圈。由氮、氧、氩和二氧化碳等气体及微粒等组成。密度一般随高度增加而趋于稀薄。上界可达几千公里。根据温度的垂直分布，可自下而上将大气划分为对流层、平流层、中间层、热层和外大气层。整个大气层对地球起保护作用，使其免受宇宙射线和宇宙物质影响，同时也对地球的温度起平衡调节作用。
