孳孳为利zī zī wèi lì

work from morning till night for money (/profits); mercenarily
❍ 鸡鸣而起，～，蹠之徒也。(《孟子·尽心上》)He who rises at cockcrow ing,and addresses himself earnestly to the pursuit of gain,is a disciple of Chi.

孳孳为利zīzī-wéilì

〔偏正〕 孳，滋生。一点一点地盈利。高阳《粉墨春秋》：“而徐老大早起迟眠～，挣来大把银子，自觉一大半是他的功劳；老二不但不想一想创业维艰，也该动动手、帮帮忙，反而拿父兄的血汗钱去挥霍。”
