单倍体在加速育成品种上的重要性

离体培养法产生单倍体主要的和最主要的优点是比常规方法节省时间。用花药和花粉培养能在一年之内产生纯合的植株和等位基因系，而常规育种法可能要花4—6年。在中国，用花药培养方法已育成了水稻、小麦、烟草新品种，日本通过花药培养得到了优良的烟草品种F221，并能抗细菌枯萎病。这些报道促进了许多植物育种家应用花药培养方法。在未来10年期间，在作物改良计划中将大大地感受到花药培养工作的冲击。
