如琢如磨rú zhuó rú mó

as jade is wrought by chisel and stone; like grinding stone and polishing jade; slow process of education and scholarship/《诗经》上有这样著名的诗句： “如切如磋，～”，这是说朋友之间要互相帮助，互相批评。(刘少奇《论共产党员的修养》14) The Book of Odes,in the famous lines，“As knife and file make smooth the bone,as jade is wrought by chisel and stone，” referred to the need for help andcriticism among friends.
