不法古，不修今不期修古，不法常可bù fǎ gǔ,bù xiū jīn

not follow the ancient way,nor abide by the present fixed rules
❍ 圣人～。法古则后于时，修今则塞于势。(《商君书·开塞》) The sages do not follow the ancient way,nor a bide by the present fixed rules.If they follow the ancient way,they will lag behind the times; if they abide by the present fixed rules,they will hinder the tide.

不法古，不修今bùfǎgǔ,bùxiūjīn

〔并列〕 不效法古代，也不遵循今制。《商君书·开塞》：“圣人～。法古则后于时，修今则塞于势。”
