三更半夜借指深夜。《红楼梦》第二六回： “有事没事，跑了来坐着，叫我们三更半夜的不得睡觉！ ”
●宋释文莹《玉壶清话》卷五：“赵昌言为枢密副使。是时陈象舆、董俨(与胡旦、梁颢)五人者旦夕会饮于枢第……都人谚曰：‘陈三更，董半夜。’ ”另见《续资治通鉴长编·太宗端拱元年》、《宋史·赵昌言传》。北宋陈象、胡旦、董俨、梁颢四人与赵昌言志趣相投，日夜在赵家聚会谈论，常至深夜，京城人称为 “陈三更，董半夜” 。 三更半夜sāngēng-bànyè泛指深夜。 半夜三更[三更半夜]、黑灯瞎火、黑更半夜、深更半夜；大天白日○半夜三更bàn yè sān gēng深夜：～，路上一个人也没有|～，怎么有人叫门？也说〖三更半夜〗。 ○黑灯瞎火hēi dēng xiā huǒ〈口〉形容黑夜没有灯光的情景：这点活什么时候干不了，～的忙什么 |～的，我送你回家吧|～的，山路不好走，你要小心点。 ○黑更半夜hēi gēng bàn yè〈口〉指深夜：～的，你怎么来了 |～的，你不要到处乱跑|～跑来，有急事吧？ ○深更半夜shēn gēng bàn yè深夜：～，人都睡了 |～，屋外怪冷的。 ●大天白日dà tiān bái rì〈口〉白天（有强调意味）:～的，你怎么走迷了路|～的，怕什么 |～睡什么觉啊？ 三更半夜sān gēng bàn yèat midnight;in the middle (/dead) of the night; late into the night;the third watch at night

按，此语之岀，诸本迭有补逸。知识出版社《实用成语词典》云：《红楼梦》第二十六回：“有事没事，跑了来坐着，叫我们三更半夜的不得睡觉。”四川辞书出版社《汉语成语词典》云：《元曲选·武汉臣〈生金阁〉三》：“三更半夜，只是娄青一个自去，怕人设设的”。诸本余例属现代人，不录。 三更半夜sān gēng bàn yè三更：指深夜十二点左右。指深夜。

【提示】多作时间状语。“更”在这里不读gèng。 三更半夜sānɡēnɡ-bànyè一夜分五更，每更两小时，三更为深夜十二点左右。“三更半夜”泛指深夜。 三更半夜sān ɡēnɡ bàn yè见“半夜三更”。 1144【三更半夜】sān gēng bàn yè深夜，指夜间十二点左右。三更：半夜。更，旧时夜间计时的单位，一夜分为五更，每更约两小时。也作“半夜三更”。 三更半夜sāngēng-bànyè〔并列〕 更，晚间计时单位，每二小时为一更，每夜为五更。三更，半夜，约晚上十二小时左右。形容时间已晚。元·武汉臣《生金阁》3折：“～，只是娄青一个人去，怕人设设的。”
