Thisby:

a Babylonian maid,loved by Pyramus. Theywere obliged to meet in secret. One night,coming bymoonlight to Ninus’ tomb to meet Pyramus. she saw alion devouring an ox. While running away shedropped her mantle which the lion seized and stainedwith blood. Pyramus arrived later,found the blood-stained mantle,supposed Thisby to be dead,sostabbed himself. Then Thisby,returning to find herlover’s dead body,also stabbed herself.瑟丝贝，巴比伦一少女，与皮拉摩斯相爱，并私自约会。一夜晚，她乘月光到尼努斯坟地与皮拉摩斯相会，遇一猛狮正撕咬一牛，瑟丝贝惊逃时丢下的外衣为狮子抓去并染上血污。皮拉摩斯随之而来，见血衣，以为瑟丝贝已死，乃自杀。瑟丝贝继至，见其情人尸体，亦自杀。
