形态与组分 卵形，两端圆形，277×169．5纳米。

生物学特性 宿主为牛，在口腔内引起直径为2．5厘米，深达1厘米的肿瘤。某些毒株可感染绵羊和山羊。它对醚稳定，但没有痘苗病毒强。可用牛肾、人肝和人肠细胞培养。某些病毒也能引起与该病毒相类似的临床症状。

分类 痘病毒科(poxviridae)，副痘病毒属(Parapoxvirus)。
