形态与组分 形态类似Herpesviridae，囊膜内的核心直径90纳米。核酸为DNA，分子量32000000GC含量65%，其中有14%的核苷酸顺序相同于Human herpesvirus 1。

生物学特性 宿主为牛，引起皮肤坏死和乳头糜烂。其与Bovine mammilitis virus有血清学交叉反应。可用小牛肾细胞进行培养。

分类 疱疹病毒科(Herpesviridae)，疱疹病毒甲亚科(Al phaher pesvirinae)，人疱疹病毒1属(Human herpesvirus 1 group)。
